Objectives
Strengthening the partnership between ICESCO and the Ministry of Water and Sanitation in Senegal;
Organizing expert technical sessions and a highlevel meeting on water in the context of climate change;
Water, sanitation and hygiene in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outcomes
Participation in the opening ceremony;
The opening ceremony of the forum, chaired by the Head of State of Senegal, was marked by the presentation of a copy of the book «Peace 360°: Exploring the Dimensions of Peace» by the ICESCO Director-General to H.E. Mr. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal. The book was edited by the Organization and prefaced by H.E. Mr. President Macky Sall.

Working Session on “Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation for Water Security in OIC Member States”
Objectives
Sharing experiences and good practices in the design and implementation of shared-benefit projects (adaptation and mitigation) in the water sector;
Promoting the integrated management of water resources in the various economic sectors while taking into account climate change;
Identifying and prioritizing actions, projects and financing tools for ensuring water security and climate change adaptation and mitigation;
Identifying capacity needs of countries for achieving SDGs 6 and 13 through the implementation of water-related NDCs.
Outcomes
Facing the challenges of adaptation and mitigation in the water sector;
Providing the necessary knowledge and capabilities to address climate-related water pressures in the OIC Member States;
Adapting with climate change and mitigation while addressing the main SDGs challenges in the relationship between food, energy and water.

ICESCO’s Programme for Improving WASH Services in Rural Schools in the Islamic world
Objectives
Developing water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in about twenty rural schools in Senegal;
Holding training sessions on good hygiene practices and creating a manual for that purpose.
Outcomes
The students and teachers recognized the importance of sanitation and the provision of drinking water for improving the working environment;
Allowing girls to pursue their studies through the developed was the major achievement.

Organization of the High-Level Panel on “Mainstreaming Climate Action in the Water Sector”
Objectives
Highlighting the current situation in the water sector in OIC Member States and their efforts to adapt to climate change and mitigate its repercussions in the field of water;
Examining various tools to enhance and coordinate the dissemination of technical equipment, knowledge and financial support from national and regional authorities and multilateral institutions;
Responding to the need to unify knowledge, approaches and strategies to confront these challenges and ensure water security.

ICESCO Launches Programme for Water and Sanitation Services Improvement in Mauritania’s Rural Schools
Objectives
Improving water and sanitation services in 1000 rural schools in several ICESCO Member States, and contributing to the fight against the effects of climate change on water resources.
Outcomes
Improving the working environment in terms of sanitation and access to drinking water ;
Improving hygiene of students, especially young girls who dropped out of school for lack of toilets;
Raising students’ awareness of good practices in the field of hygiene and sanitation ;
Protecting the environment by reducing pollution from human waste.
